I had some leftover cooked chickpeas in the fridge, and I didn't want to throw them out. I decided to make some hummus, instead. I had to compromise since I had no tahini sauce or olive oil. I also had no blender. I am using a small manual grinder that my Mom gave to me before I came. I was also trying to combine two different hummus recipes into one. The end result is what I call Indian hummus, even though it looked more like chickpea guacemole. I used it as a sandwich spread, put some tomatoes and onions, in the middle, with a dash of hot sauce and ketchup. It tasted pretty good, but that's my opinion. Try it for yourself, if you dare ...
cooked chickpeas
2 green chillies
3 cloves of garlic
1 tsp sesame seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp red chilli pepper
fresh chopped cilantro
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp oil
2 tbsp water
Mix all the ingredients together in blender until you have the consistency that you like your hummus to be. For the sandwich filling, I cut 1 tomato and 1 onion and squeezed the juice of 1 small lemon. Spread the hummus on the tow slices of bread, put the filling in with some hot sauce and ketchup, and there's your sandwich.
