I know!! Another upma recipe. I'm trying to diversify the breakfast palette, but I just can't help it. This is basically just Bataka Puva minus the bataka.
2 cups puva (beaten rice)
1 chopped onion
3 chopped green chillies
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
Pinch of turmeric
Salt to taste
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp lemon juice
2 tsp peanuts
1 tbsp chopped cilantro for garnish
grated coconut for garnish
1 tbsp oil
1. Soak puva in water for 5 minutes. Drain water completely and set aside.
2. Heat oil in pan and add mustard seeds and peanuts. Then add onions and sautee until golden brown.
3. Next add salt, green chillies, and turmeric and fry for 2 minutes.
4. Add the soaked puva and sugar and stir together well. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
5. Finally, garnish with lemon juice, chopped cilantro, and shredded coconut.
