1 quart of unflavored yogurt (or Greek yogurt)
1 muslin cloth
2 tsp vanilla extract
4 tbsp sugar
1 small bar of chocolate, crushed into bits
Few pieces of M & Ms or toppings of your choice
- First, strain the water out of the yogurt by placing the yogurt into a muslin cloth. If you do not want to strain, you can just use Greek yogurt, which is already strained.
- Mix the sugar and vanilla extract into the yogurt and blend together until all the sugar dissolves.
- Crush some chocolate (or whatever flavor you like) and mix everything together.
- Place the blended yogurt into a freezer safe container and allow yogurt to freeze. We let it sit in the freezer overnight. You will have to take it out once or twice to stir the yogurt before the end of the night.
- In the morning, take the yogurt out of the freezer and put in refrigerator to allow it to defrost for about an hour or two. The yogurt will be frozen and unedible otherwise.
- Mix the yogurt one more time and your homemade chocolate frozen yogurt is ready to eat! We topped ours with Gems (equivalent of M & Ms). Chocolate or caramel sauce would have been yummy, but you can use whatever topping of choice.
