Vataranusak (Dried Peas Sak)

Sorry, I have been really lazy with my posts. Here are a few more recipes I tried out.

1 cup yellow dried peas (vatara)
1 tomato
2 garlic cloves
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
2 green chillies
Pinch of turmeric
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp grated coconut
Salt to taste

1. First, soak the yellow peas overnight. Drain the next day.
2. Pressure cook the peas with turmeric and green chillies until cooked and mushy.
3. Heat up oil in pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add garlic and fry until golden brown.
4. Finally, add the cooked peas and mix well. May need to add a little bit of water and bring the sak to a boil.
4. Garnish with cilantro and serve hot with rice or roti. I made some sev paratha to eat along with the sak. (See next entry)
